Iceland Grows by 1,800 in Three Months

Within the first three months of the year, Iceland has grown by nearly 1,800 people, according to recent figures from Statistics Iceland. In total, 2,574 have come into the country while 798 moved out. Of those coming into the country, the majority - about 800 - have moved to the Reykjavík area while close to 700 have moved to the East Fjörds. Within the country, south Iceland and the Suðurnes peninsula have seen a drop in numbers. The increase in the east is attributed to heavy industrial projects currently underway. - pfn
