Police and customs officers found twelve kilos of amphetamine hidden in a car on the Smyril Line ferry which was anchored at Seydisfjördur, east Iceland, yesterday morning. This is the largest amount of drugs to have been found on the ferry. Two Lithuanian men who owned the car were arrested and are undergoing questioning. The street value of amphetamine in Iceland is five thousand kronas per gram. Once the substance has been cut, the value of yesterdays find would have amounted to around 150 million ISK.
