Woman of the Year

Dorrit Moussaieff, the president's wife, was chosen Woman of the Year 2006 according to the magazine Nýtt Líf. This was announced today and a party in her honour will be held at Iða tonight. This is the 16th time the women's magazine Nýtt Líf chooses Woman of the Year. Among the women that have received this title are former President Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir Chairwoman of the Alliance Party, Rannveig Rist CEO, Kristín Rós Hákonardóttir athlete and Thelma Ásdísardóttir. Dorrit Moussaieff received Icelandic citizenship this year after being married for four years to Iceland's president Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson.
