A man in the south of Iceland was found guilty of destruction of nature in South Iceland District Court last Saturday, and sentenced to pay 200,000 ISK. He was accused of having constructed a road about four kilometres long into protected areas Hengilssvæði and Klóamýri without a license or permission. A bulldozer driver who was hired by the man was acquitted, as the judge didn't feel as though the driver could have known whether or not the man who hired him had permission to build the road.
