Former Prime Minister Halldór Ásgrímsson said goodbye to his former colleagues yesterday. When asked by journalists whether he would be moving to the Central Bank and follow in the footsteps of Davíd Oddsson who left the Prime Ministry to become head of the bank, he denied this. "I'm heading up to the mountains. I'm going to visit mountains that I haven't seen before," he laughed.

Ásgrímsson predicts good things for the future of the Progressive Party. " It will play a large part in the future of this nation," he said, adding that there are plenty of young and talented people in the Party. "When I leave there will be plenty of space for these people."
