Towel Taken Off Market

Household goods store Rúmfatalagerinn has pulled a brand of towel from their shelves after it was brought to light that the towels might be made from child labour. The towels, made by the company Capri, are exported to Iceland from the Danish company Jysk, who buy them directly from the manufacturer. A few days ago, Danish television indicated that this manufacturer engages in child labour. "We have no interest in selling such goods," said Rúmfatalagerinn general manager Magnús Kjartan Sigurðsson. "The moment it was brought to our attention that there was some problem with this towel we took it off the shelves immediately." Department store Hagkaup has followed suit, by taking these towels off their shelves as well. - pfn
