Icelandic President ÓIafur Ragnar Grímsson has just been awarded with the Global Environmental Leadership Award at the annual conference of the Climate Institute in Washington. Grímsson receives this award for showing initiative on an international level in the fight against climate change and for Iceland's contribution in developing environmentally friendly energy. Grímsson made a speech at the conference on Iceland's energy research. The Herald Tribune published an article on the President which said that the offered his tiny country as a research model for the rest of the world whilst working at solving the dangers of global warming.
